From Finland with Love

BIG NEWS. IM BACK

Being from Finland, naturally I am interested in Finnish design and designers. Recently discovered an amazing accessories brand gTie. If you havent seen it, go check it out here. Their neckwear and accessories are so unique and fun at the same time that you cant but fall in love. A lot of (finnish) celebrities have recently been seen wearing them and I am so happy that they are being noticed, and hope they spread out globally even more.

They do have a small shop where they also make their products on Unioninkatu 27 B, do pay them a visit if and when you do visit Finland, or if you are from here and havent been.

"gTIE is an innovative Finnish neckwear and accessory brand. The collection sets the bar in men’s accessories and gives an edge to the urban woman. It offers new ideas for traditional ties and gives functional and innovative designs to wear as accessories. gTIE negotiates new fashion rules and pushes style boundaries further." -gTie website

The piece I bought was a draping silver earring with a cuff/ screw to attach from the top.

Some interior design within their shop. The style is lovely, a mix of modern with old objects that give it a rough urban yet modernised cool look.

Nike till I die... wait what?!

Im a nike lover. There is no way denying it. This couldve been seen this week when I was about to buy some 5.0 free runs with my last pennies.. They were on sale, and 20% extra off so really it was a bargain. But my consciousness thought otherwise, better save now. Also there are so many christmas presents needed to buy so I really shouldnt be treating myself.

Anyway, as I said, I am a nike lover, and although the occasional adidas finds its way to my closet, it isnt often... However I must say this. I think I prefer Nike for sport clothing, but for leisure wear, the winner might be good old Adidas.

Take this for example... Just casually strolling through urban outfitters and BOOM. I spot it, this sweater. I must have it.

And as seen on adidas.

AWxH&M

The now 'already gone' and famous Alexander Wang collection in collaboration with H&M. Yes I got my fair piece from it. Although I was about to give up with the web page I just had that MUST HAVE feeling. I think it might have been the hype... Well here is the damage, sports bra. Fitting as I use them anyway on a daily basis, but this one gives a nice little edge to it. The designer edge.

flu season or just payback?

I caught the flu. A real one. For about 2 weeks I was sneezing coughing and having a throat ache, also might have had a bit of a fever too.. Was spending a lot of time at home and doing uni work. Its that time of the semester where a lot of hand ins were due and the cold really didnt help. So as per, the blog was on a little break as well. Lets not dwell on that but move on.

Since I havent really had time to take outfit posts (although I wish I had, so many good ones that I missed) this post will be just done in from my room in the flat.

Jewelry. That small accessory that can make the difference in the world. Im not one to wear much jewelry or really change. Earrings usually stay the same from day to day and one necklace has dominated my neck for about 2.5 years now... No joke.

However, women in general still seem to OWN a lot of jewelry. And I guess its one of those things thats easy to buy as a present. Me for one have gotten a lot over the years, and this really isnt even all of it. Here is just a few pieces I have in Glasgow and that I like.

Some chunky earrings that dont really get out enough... cant really remember where all these came from

Earrings Juicy Couture

Another favorite necklace now (on left) my mother's old bronze pendant. Next Tiffany&Co necklace, on the right Thomas Sabo bracelet with pendants.

midi rings, these ones are just from topshop

golden necklaces, so simple but so useful
(big chunky one and thinner forever21, thinnest one is from H&M old)

Just bought this beautiful bracelet from accessorize. Haven't been there in a while and was positively surprised finding this leaf bracelet

Alex and Ani energy bracelet, also simple but beautiful

Im not one to wear rings a lot due to a fright that they will get stuck... But there are a few special ones

Very bling, very limited use, but beautiful. Swarowski

Smoothie a day keeps the doctor away!

Wish that the title was true... Maybe it is, since I haven't actually had a smoothie per day, but right now feels like nothing is helping this flu of mine... 2nd flu this autumn! why oh why. Well today I was in the store and just got inspired by some reduced mint leaves. Grabbed those and some lime and voila! (few other ingredients added). Thought this smoothie might give a bit of a vitamin as well as energy boost as I have been feeling quite tired and ill for the past few days.

Smoothies are really great, so much can go into them but you barely notice because once everything is in liquid form its so much easier to consume. Also this allows all the goodness to be absorbed better in your body. Ingredients which you might never eat otherwise, can easily be added to a shake and make it taste alright. (spinach, kale, celery, ginger etc.)

Heres my smoothie for the day.

 Ingredients:

1 banana
about a cup of frozen raspberries
coconut milk
half a squeezed lime
mint (depend on preference)

Reminiscing Russia...

This post goes out to everyone who's moved around and especially to those whom live, or have lived in Russia. I was sad to leave my home country when I first heard at the age of 10 that me and my family might be off to live in Moscow, Russia... I couldn't have thought of a worst thing. Now I am happy and grateful to have called Russia my home for 8 years. To say the least, it was a change of a lifetime. The adaptation took a while not gonna lie, but its this process thats made me who I am today.

Moscow... Oh that sweet Moscow that so many fear and many wont see. Moscow wont probably be picked as the #1 choice for a vacation, but I miss it. The noise, the pollution, the traffic, the language, the people, yes part of what makes Russia, I do sometimes miss it now. Because beneath all small faults lies something greater... A country so old and full of history, great and terrible, fascinating and exciting, beautiful in its own way.

8 years I spend there. 8 Wonderful and eventful years I wouldn't change at all.

There are its ups and downs like everywhere, but for the most part, you know youve found something great when you cant stop thinking about it. I would have never thought that I would have learnt to love something that in my home country, some people despise. Yes I have my hatred towards the history between our countries, and I am 100% Finnish and always will be. But Russia will hold a place with me forever.

tartan. need I say more?

A finnish post for a change?

No eiköhän tämä tästä kuiteski.

stairway to heaven

Ihanaa alkuviikkoa kaikille!
Wonderfull start of the week to everyone!

My week did not start of so well. Expectations were high with me packing up my laptop and gym gear with me to uni on this morning... The plan: go to lecture, go to library and work, go to the gym. The reality: Go to lecture (check) go to the library (for an hour.... yeah check) and no gym. Im not one to skip gym but today was just one of those days...

I couldnt really figure it out though, was feeling down and just wanted to go home and do nothing for the rest of the day... Well lets just hope the rest of the week goes smooth and cheerful, which I think it will since im going to FINLAND! just a small break for a few days. Cant wait.
